We offer affordable mixing and mastering services for creators on a budget. Most artists can't afford elite mastering studios in music industry hotspots, often booked through eternity. Fortunately, you probably don't need one of those. When you just need a solid mix that fits like your favorite slippers, and a master that pops like fireworks, we can help.

XMS is more than audio editing. Our creative services add a professional polish to scripts and other text, logos, custom art, bumper music, video and most other digital assets. Sure, AI can be a nice way to enter the party, but a professional human touch makes you the center of attention.

So you had a band back in the day, eh? Is that old demo still sitting on a master tape or cassette? We can resurrect it, and make it better than it was in the dark ages. If you have old audio that needs a new lease on life, we are here to resurrect it.

What markets do you serve?
Our services are tailored to podcasters, churches, businesses, musicians and anyone else looking to enhance their audio products and/or improve the quality of creative content.

Can I hear a sample of my processed audio before I move forward?
Absolutely! We encourage you to "try before you buy". Start the process with our Contact form. We will send you a link where you can upload your file(s).
How long does it take to complete a project?
It can vary, but you will know up front. We will not accept work unless we can meet your deadlines. We can typically process shorter content (under an hour in length) within 24 hours of receiving it. Shorter turnaround times are possible through mutual agreement with certain customers.
What do you charge?
We do not have fixed prices because every job is different. But you will always know your final cost before you commit.
We estimate cost in tiers, per minute of audio. The tier depends on whether we need to listen to every bit of audio, and how much discretion you want us to use. Simple noise reduction and general enhancement are inexpensive. Editing and resequencing cost more. Costs typically range from $2 - $6 per minute of audio, with a $50 minimum.
We believe in transparency. Customer needs and expectations vary. As we get to know yours, we will let you know what costs are involved. Our goal is to build long-term business relationships, and help you succeed. Your success will be our success.
Can you help with old or poor-quality recordings?
Yes. The level of improvement will vary, but we can usually improve such recordings quite a bit. To ensure the service aligns with expectations, we will edit a sample of the audio first, so that you can decide if the results meet your needs.
Can I request revisions if I'm not satisfied with the audio?
Yes - we want you to be happy. But our workflow ensures that we understand your expectations early, and you know what to expect. This eliminates most issues that might arise later in the process.
Can you manage our content on podcasting platforms?
Yes, but this will require a services contract. We recommend that we take the business relationship one step at a time, starting with your audio needs.
Don't people just record podcasts live? Why do I need editing?
Yes, some podcasters record live and publish as-is. And that can be fine, depending on market and expectations. But if you want to sound your professional best, then you probably need professional editing.
Flawless conversations rarely occur. A cough here, a pause there, some unwanted profanity... stuff happens. Even if you have a flawless conversation, maybe you need entrance and exit music. Or sound effects. Or maybe you need the tempo to be a hair faster. Or, maybe you need an extra clip at the end to be moved to an earlier point in the broadcast. The list of issues that can affect podcast quality is long.
Bottom line: If your market expects professional-sounding audio, then you need an editing service.
Can't I do all this myself with AI?
You could try. But current AI audio systems are best viewed as next-generation tools for audio professionals.
AI technology is improving every day. AI can assist with simpler audio tasks like noise reduction, as professional audio editing software incorporates more AI algorithms into the tool sets. We will use whatever helps us deliver a better product at a lower price point. But there is a difference between having access to tools and knowing how and when to use the tools. Aesthetic judgments require skilled human input, and this will likely not change for quite some time.
What formats do you accept for audio files?
We accept all popular audio file formats, including WAV, MP3, AIFF and others. If in doubt, just ask.
How do I send my audio files to you?
Fill out our Contact form. We will send you a link where you can upload your file.
By default, we use private Google Drive folders to manage customer content. If you have a preferred method of file transfer, we will use it, although we strongly recommend not sending audio files as e-mail attachments. due to file size restrictions on some mail systems.
What are your terms of payment?
For new customers, we process your audio at no up-front cost to you and send you a sample for evaluation. We will send the complete audio when full payment is received.
For regular customers, we can arrange specific terms that work for you, e.g., invoicing with Net 30 days.
We accept PayPal, Venmo and other electronic payment systems. All payments are in USD.

Greetings. I started XMS Audio for two reasons. First, we live in a time of historic change, with a revolution in large-scale human communication underway. Audio is central to this. And, second, I have spent the past 40 years immersed in audio engineering in my personal and professional life. As a young professional fresh out of college, I spent my first $10,000 on a home recording studio. That crazy passion for sound never waned.
I went on to build a successful career as a consultant in the software industry. Now I want to build a different kind of company -- one that leverages the wisdom of a long consulting career, but lets me focus on the audio revolution we are all witnessing every day.
